In order to determine actual moving tendencies in New York we have examined the data available at Dumbo Moving and Storage. We have consulted company’s database to establish the most frequent moving trends among New Yorkers. Our goal was to identify the favorite NYC areas to move to and the most popular areas New Yorkers were moving from in the past six months. The percentage is calculated out of all the moves we performed during that period.
The most popular area on both of the lists is Northwest Brooklyn. Second and third most popular moving-to and moving from locations are Murray Hill and Chelsea and Clinton. Forth most attractive place for living is Greenpoint, followed by Prospect Heights.
Upper East Side and Upper West Side are among the most frequent areas New Yorkers are moving from.
According to the company’s database an obvious conclusion would be that people are not fond of upper Manhattan any more. Nowadays the young seem to prefer Lower Manhattan or Brooklyn.
Customer’s age range is 20-35 and they are interested in areas like: Murray Hill, Prospect Heights, East Williamsburg.
This analysis is just an overview of the current moving situation in NYC based on Dumbo’s database. Moving trends are very variable and usually depend on several factors: customer’s needs and preferences, real estate price, customer’s financial situation.
